Admiral Patrick
We encountered a Romulan warbird at oh-six-hundred hours. Decloak, the usual posturing, weapons powered but not raised — a conversation written in subtext, as they always are with Romulans. Commander T'Vel handled the hail. Cool, precise, appropriately unrevealing. I was proud of her, though I expressed this by saying "adequate" and returning to my chair. The warbird withdrew after eleven minutes. I have filed a full report with Command, though I suspect it will sit unread beneath several memos about the new uniform collar guidelines, which have apparently become a matter of significant institutional urgency. The Romulans, at least, have their priorities in order.
